For two years, a pixie problem that Mary can't seem to rid of weaves its way through her village, threatening to make the already unsettled community burst through the seams. With their lord missing and her father gone, Mary stands alone as Head Guard, bearing the weight of every doubt and distrust thrown at her.

Just as the village’s patience frays beyond repair- a young field ranger apprentice comes stumbling out of the woods and into their life.

With a bountiful knowledge of the magi at her fingertips and the tools to act on it, this weird stranger quickly makes herself known in the village. Drawn to danger and chaos, though, the stranger pulls Mary along to unravel the web of mysteries haunting the village.

As the connection between the two grows and flourishes, Mary finds herself caught between protecting the peace her father preached, and the rabbit hole of secrets her new friend collects everywhere she goes.
